Resolution and color problems with windows 7?

by Drivers Utilities on May 16, 2010

Yesterday I installed windows 7 on my formerly Windows XP PC and my computer was stuck in 640×480 resolution. I was eventually able to change that but when I do the colors become deficient and I’ mnot sure whats wrong. In some parts of the screen there are random black holes. I tried using the Windows Updates to update that driver but apparently it’s up to date. What do I do?

real MCSE would know you have a microsoft provided driver.

you’ll have to figure out what type of graphics card you have in your particular system, then download the correct driver from the right vendor.

but i’ll make it easy :P

http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

use that program to figure out your brand, model and series of graphics card

the three most popular are Nvidia AMD/ATi and Intel GMA

here are the websites to get the driver once you know which one you need.

(select the graphics option in the 1st tab on this site)

just follow the directions, choose your right operating system, choose your model and series of card DL the drivers and install them,

You should notice a hilarious improvement in video performance afterwards also,

after all that is done and you’ve reset the system,

right click your desktop, click properties, click settings, set your bit rate to 32 bit. and put the resolution at the highest possible, and you are GTG.

by default windows provides microsoft drivers (MPD’s) but these drivers just enable basic functionality, and you’ll need the correct drivers to enable all the advanced features of your hardware and just to make it run like it should, in lamens terms, a driver is the software that lets the system know the specific commands to talk that piece of hardware. with out the driver the computer isn’t really able to talk and use that piece of hardware like it should.

Your probably missing most if not all of your system drivers, installing them will increase performance and stability significantly.

You can use this program to figure out your hardware, and search for windows 7 drivers once you know what hardware you have

Most often the drivers are on the vendors website, like HP dell or whatever, just goto there homepage , check out there drivers section, put your model number in and it should come back with a plethora of drivers your supposed to have installed

Happy holidays, and best of luck :)
